The Big Screen is Back: 2026 Delivers a Blockbuster Summer

2026 has been the best year for the big screen since 2019, the year before the Covid-19 pandemic. The global box office has made around 19 billion dollars so far this year, helped by summer releases such as Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' and 'Spiderman: Brand New Day' as well as surprise horror hits, 'Backrooms' and 'Obsession.'
But, as Tom Brook reports for Talking Movies, the good news comes with caveats - including fewer people going to the cinema.
