Southport Inquiry: What Happens in Phase Two?
What Phase Two of the Southport Inquiry will examine and why it matters.
Phase two of Southport Inquiry opens today.
It's expected to examine the management of “violence fixated individuals”, the role of the internet and regulations on the sale and possession of offensive weapons.
The Inquiry was set up after the murders of Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Alice da Silva Aguiar and attacks on 10 others at a Taylor Swift themed dance and yoga class in July 2024.
In Phase One, Inquiry Chairman Sir Adrian Fulford found "catastrophic" failures by the killers parents and various agencies meant it could have been prevented.
Last week, The Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, said the Government had accepted all the findings and has vowed to "right the wrongs" identified by the inquiry.
