Exploring Shropshire's award-winning music studio

Moose Records' state-of-the-art creative hub on the A49 develops new artists and their sounds, opening inside a former coach house and beanbag factory.

Based between Shrewsbury and Church Stretton, Anthony 'Shorty' Shorter, James Revitt and Macy O have transformed the barn in to a fully equipped studio for recording and production.

At a time when arts funding is under pressure, Anthony and James explain how they are making a difference by opening up professional studio time to emerging artists who might otherwise not afford it.

Discover how they have created incredible reverb options from scratch, alongside boasting various music memorabilia, including original tapes from the Spencer Davis Group and signed records from Sam Ryder and Teddy Swims.

Anthony has spent a lifetime in the industry, recently learning production to assist his step-daughter, BBC Introducing success story Macy O, then sharing his expertise to the acts under their stable. He shares how, in a former life, he helped teach Mark Owen and Robbie Williams how to ice skate in Telford, in addition to how he came about to own a mixer belonging to George Michael.

James Revitt, another BBC Introducing success story, has become a co-owner and a full-time music producer after previously being a bus driver. He shares how he has set up the studio to capture the best sound, in addition to what happens when the team of musicians at Moose Records regularly visit Abbey Road Studios in London.
