‘OCD will grab on to the thing you love the most’

Every day, Sarah Wilson imagines her perfectly healthy young children are going to die in a car crash or fall fatally ill.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is complex and leads to intrusive thoughts and behaviours they have no control over, ranked by the World Health organisation as one of the top 10 most debilitating illnesses.

Sarah tells Tammy Gooding how she began experiencing such thoughts after the birth of her second son in early 2020. Her time with her new baby became eclipsed by the darkness of the developing condition.

For anyone who strikes a chord with what she is saying, Sarah says the best thing to do is to find help.

Details of organisations offering information and support with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are available at BBC Action Line.
