Journey of a jar: where does your recycling go?
It can be a real postcode lottery when it comes to recycling rates.
For example, Milton Keynes hit 60% according to the most recent Defra data, while in nearby Luton the figure was 28%.
But what actually happens to the waste that does go for recycling?
Martin Heath headed to Hertfordshire to track the journey of a couple of typical items of rubbish once it leaves our houses.
