Norway's 'Sentimental Value' gets nine Oscar nominations after sweeping European Film Awards
It already swept the European Film Awards in Berlin with six wins, and now the Norwegian film 'Sentimental Value' has nine Oscar nominations, beaten only by 'Sinners' and 'One Battle After Another', and equalling the nominations of 'Frankenstein' and 'Marty Supreme.'
The movie, by Joachim Trier, stars Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård and American actor Elle Fanning. Its success is part of a growing trend by voters to recognise world cinema in awards season, not just Hollywood films.
