All Quiet on the Western Front: Anti-war German movie a frontrunner in Oscar race
Nearly a century after the publication of 'All Quiet on the Western Front', a World War One novel by German writer Erich Maria Remarque, a hard-hitting new film adaptation has been made by German director Edward Berger, starring Daniel Brühl.
The first movie adaptation of the popular anti-war book took the Best Picture Oscar in 1930 - and this version, released by Netflix, is also a favourite this awards season.
