Vicky Phelan: The woman who exposed Ireland’s smear test scandal
In 2011, Vicky Phelan was given the all-clear after her cervical smear test. Three years later, she discovered that her test results were in fact abnormal, leading to a diagnosis of cervical cancer. It was a harrowing experience shared by over 200 other Irish women. Vicky speaks to Jane Garvey on BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour about exposing the smear test scandal and living with its consequences.
