Having a child through egg donation
Every year, some 50,000 women turn to fertility clinics in the hope of starting a family. For around 70% of them, the treatment is unsuccessful.
BBC reporter Sophie Sulehria has been sharing her journey of trying for a baby with Radio 4's PM programme.
Despite going through six rounds of IVF, she and her husband Jonny have been unsuccessful. Now they are are looking at alternative ways to have a child.
They met Claire and her husband Mark who had their son using donor egg treatment.
