Thornberry rejects reshuffle criticism

Shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry has insisted it was right for Jeremy Corbyn to appoint a new top team to take the fight to the Conservatives.

The chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party has said he was not informed about the reshuffle. The PLP had held talks with party leaders over shadow cabinet elections.

Ms Thornberry told the Today programme’s Nick Robinson those negotiations would continue but Mr Corbyn had been right to make changes now.
