Archbishop of Canterbury's immigration comments 'rational'
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has said it's "absolutely outrageous" to condemn as racist people who raise concerns about immigration.
The Work and Pensions Secretary, Iain Duncan Smith, welcomed the comments as “rational” and said the views should have been aired a long time ago.
“But if you think back for far too many years. What's happened is that, in a sense, the elite really have all said "It’s terrible to talk about immigration; if you do you're a racist". So they shut down the debate for many, many years,” he added.
