Transport secretary: ‘Hopefully’ airport decision next Summer
Transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin has said that there will “hopefully” be a decision on the expansion of airport capacity in the South East by summer 2016.
Speaking on the Today programme, Mr McLoughlin said the government accepted the need for extra capacity, but that work needed to be done to decide which option was best.
“I believe in the summer of next year, we will be in a position… to make a firm recommendation,” he told presenter John Humphrys.
