South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal has found the athlete Oscar Pistorius guilty of murdering his girlfriend, overturning his manslaughter conviction. He will be re-sentenced next year.
Liberia's Vice President Joseph Boakai has told the BBC that if he is elected president in 2017 he will try to do more for reconciliation and to help the many who have never got anything from the government.
A female Somali journalist has died after a bomb exploded under her car in the capital Mogadishu. The journalist, Hinda Haji Mohamed, was working for Somali government radio and television.
