Alan Johnson Labour MP on leadership election reform
Why did Labour perform so badly in the election – not just in Scotland, but also in England? What was behind Labour’s party’s worst election performance since 1987?
Alan Johnson, Labour MP for Hull West and Hessle, and former Home Secretary between 2009-2010 spoke to John Humphrys about reform:
"What is absolutely clear is we’ve got to run the leadership election on genuine one member one vote basis".
Mr Johnson also spoke about the reluctance to speak about Tony Blair's leadership:
"You'd think that Tony Blair had lost us three elections, not won us three elections, it's almost de rigueur not to mention his name."
