Labour's Ed Balls decries Osborne's 'empty' Budget

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has described the Budget announced by George Osborne on Wednesday as 'empty'.

Ed Balls said "nothing would need to be reversed by" Labour in George Osborne's budget and claimed there 'wasn't 'too much in' plans anyway.

He outlined what Labour would do including "abolishing the 'bedroom tax" and saving money by abolishing the police and crime commissioner elections.

Mr Balls said the coalition had imposed the burden of its economic strategy on people least able to bear it.

"They've done it in such an unfair and harsh and nasty way which has divided our country and left very many vulnerable people in our country in very difficult circumstances," he said.

Mr Balls said most people were now worse off - and with steeper cuts to come.
