Dolce Vita Africana

A portrait of world acclaimed Malian photographer Malick Sidibe who died last week, and a journey through Malian history inspired by this man's iconic images. Malick's snapshots from the late '50s through to the early '70s capture the carefree spirit of the youth. At the time they were asserting their freedom in the early days of independence from colonialism. Then, in the '80s a coup ushered in decades of austere military dictatorship and the direction of the country and its people changed dramatically.
