Episode 1

Detectives Jess and Maya investigate a supposedly haunted house for a paranormal podcast. Award-winning thriller with Gina McKee, by Ben and Max Ringham with Dan Rebellato.

Having exposed police corruption in Series 2, Jess and Maya are back at work but find themselves sidelined by Northumbria Police. With commissions drying up, they must take whatever work comes their way to keep their company, Veritas, afloat.

Their latest assignment comes from Anastasia Darque, the host of a supernatural podcast, who hires them to investigate a mysterious recording from a supposedly haunted house. But when Jess and Maya spend the night in the empty property making an exemplar, they uncover a disturbing truth behind the ghostly sounds.

Exemplar returns for another series of the contemporary thriller set in the fascinating world of audio forensics. Gina McKee stars as Jess, a forensic analyst born and bred in the North East, who, alongside her colleague Maya, tackles a new sonic mystery in every episode.

Created by acclaimed sound designers Ben and Max Ringham, and grounded in factual research, Exemplar brings the science of sound to life through gripping drama. The first series won Best Series at the BBC Audio Drama Awards.
