Shifting tides

Afrodeutsche follows tide lines through music inspired by shorelines, currents and shifting light, featuring Anna Phoebe, Laura Cannell, Ben Chatwin and Erland Cooper.

Shorelines drawn and redrawn by wind, tide and light form the focus of this edition of Soundwaves. Afrodeutsche traces a path through music inspired by the sea and its shifting boundaries, from Anna Phoebe and Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres' cinematic coastal landscapes to the submerged textures of Ben Chatwin, the still waters of Laura Cannell and the elemental Orkney seascapes of Erland Cooper. Along the way, currents emerge and disappear, horizons recede, and familiar places are transformed by changing light.
