Helen Charlston and Sholto Kynoch live from Wigmore Hall
Mark Forrest showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including a live concert from mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston and pianist Sholto Kynoch at Wigmore Hall.
Mark Forrest brings you an afternoon of exclusive music-making, featuring a live concert from London’s Wigmore Hall, highlights from the Cowbridge Music Festival, and the start of a week celebrating performances from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
From the Cowbridge Music Festival, an annual celebration of music in the Vale of Glamorgan, there are performances by the acclaimed Welsh pianist Llŷr Williams and the Consone Quartet is joined by violist Rosalind Ventris and cellist Richard Lester. Plus, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, perform two symphonic works by Sibelius and Elgar.
But we begin with live music from Wigmore Hall, introduced for Classical Live by Hannah French. Former BBC New Generation Artist mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston and pianist Sholto Kynoch take to the stage to perform a richly varied programme exploring love, longing, loss and joy through song, spanning Baroque masters, Romantic songwriters and 20th-century composers.
