Southern Wales: Heart of Steel

As Port Talbot and Pontypridd compete to be the UK's first-ever Town of Culture, Rob Bell explores southern Wales to find out what the title would mean for these formerly industrial areas.

As the Welsh towns of Port Talbot and Pontypridd compete to be the UK's first-ever Town of Culture, Rob Bell explores southern Wales to find out what the title would mean for these formerly industrial areas. Rob attends a 850-year-old celebration of Welsh culture, rides in a rollercoaster in an abandoned colliery now revived by the miners who used to work there, and even goes swimming with sharks in an effort to find out if the country's natural treasures could be used in a different way for the benefit of future generations.
