US-Russia deal on diesel criticised

Full coverage of the day's news

Ukraine and its allies have sharply criticised President Trump's decision to suspend sanctions on Russian diesel, saying this will only fund its war. We get an update from the BBC’s Vitaly Shevchenko and Ukrainian reaction from Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and prominent human rights lawyer.

Also on the programme, we hear from Professor Mat Collins of Exeter University about why the late arrival of the first hurricane of season connects to El Nino. Sophia Watkins reports on the people who don't know their family medical history, many of whom were adopted as children or grew up in the care system. And we explore the joy of the book shop, with writer and bookseller Martin Latham.
