Segun Akinola

Composer Segun Akinola talks to Katie about his new piece, inspired by the V&A East Museum's The Music is Black.

Katie Derham's guests include the composer Segun Akinola, who joins live in the In Tune studio to talk about his new work, 'On the Shoulders of Aunties and Uncles'.

As part of the BBC's partnership with the V&A East Museum's The Music is Black exhibition, showcasing 125 years of Black music-making in Britain, Radio 3 commissioned a new work by the film and TV composer Segun Akinola - known for his scores to the BBC's Doctor Who. Taking inspiration from the musical genres represented in the exhibition, and recorded by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Segun's piece will receive its world premiere broadcast here on In Tune.
