Linton Stephens showcases superb performances from the UK and beyond.

Our week on Classical Live begins with a live concert from Wigmore Hall in London, where violinist Elena Urioste and pianist Tom Poster perform sonatas by Dora Pejačević and Johannes Brahms, as well as a lilting nocturne by Dvorak.

We’ll also be visiting festivals in Denmark and Switzerland this week. Today, we’ll hear a Beethoven song-cycle and cello meditations by Leonard Bernstein.

There’ll be contributions from the BBC orchestras throughout the week, too. As Radio 3 celebrates Black British composers and artists, Samantha Ege joins the BBC Philharmonic at 2pm for a performance of Avril Coleridge-Taylor’s Piano Concerto. And to bring the programme to a close, George Jackson conducts the Ulster Orchestra in Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony.

We’ll also hear highlights from a recent studio recording by the Bellot Ensemble, Radio 3’s current New Generation Baroque Ensemble.
