Louise Welsh is an award-winning Scottish author of novels and short stories. She is widely known for her debut novel The Cutting Room, which was named the Most Inspiring Saltire First Book Award winner by public vote in 2018. In 2022 she published The Second Cut, which was named by The Times as their Crime Book of the Year. Her most recent novel The Cut Up, the third book in the Rilke series, was published earlier this year. She is Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
