Connie McLaughlin asks: do you welcome free school bags for primary ones? Also on the show, cancer screening and tipping.

FREE SCHOOL BAGS FOR P1s
Free school bags which are to be given to all primary one pupils from next year will come in different colours and can be personalised, the Scottish government has said. The rucksacks, pledged by the SNP earlier this year, will be made of recycled materials, have multiple compartments and pockets and will contain school essentials such as a pencil case, a water bottle and books. Children can personalise the bags by drawing their own designs and placing them inside "window" slots on the front and back. The Scottish government said the bags would help cut the cost for families as children started school and ensure children got the best start in education. The SNP unveiled the plan for the "welcome to school" bag in its manifesto for the Scottish Parliament election in April. It follows a similar principle to the baby box which was introduced by Nicola Sturgeon in 2017. Connie asks: do you welcome free school bags for primary ones?

CANCER SCREENING
Sir Chris Hoy has spoken to BBC Radio Scotland ahead of his Tourde4, a cycling challenge to raise money for cancer charities. He’s said that whilst he would always campaign for cancer causes, the onus shouldn’t be on high profile figures to encourage more “systematic and proactive” screening. It comes amidst calls to widen access to screenings for various cancers including breast, lung and bowel cancer. Connie asks: has a cancer screening saved your life? Should they be more widely available?

TIKTOK TRENDS
There have been two fatal crashes in the space of two weeks, claiming 12 lives in total. Both crashes have been linked to dangerous driving social media trends and there have been calls from Downing Street for platforms to remove the content. It’s not the first time social media trends have turned deadly. Connie asks: do we need to get tougher on social media trends? Is it something you see in your house? What conversations have you had with your children?

THE TIPPING CREEP
Has the US tipping culture reached the UK? There are some people out there saying tipping was difficult enough to navigate when the general rule was 10% at a restaurant but it's now become a minefield with US style tipping requests on the increase. Tip creep is happening. Connie asks: was tipping got out of control?
