Samphire Without the Sea
Samphire normally grows wild in estuaries and saltmarshes, but in this programme Charlotte Smith visits a farm near Evesham where they've learnt how to grow it inland, under glass.
Westlands UK specialises in standing out from the crowd, and growing crops that are just a little bit different. Across over 15 hectares of glasshouses they grow nearly 150 different species of plant - producing everything from edible flowers to microgreens. They even grow a range of sea herbs! Samphire normally grows wild in estuaries and salt marshes but in this programme, Charlotte Smith learns how it's produced commercially under glass in land-locked Worcestershire!
