Paramedics are mobilised to a large building fire in Glasgow City Centre, with concerns that people are trapped inside. As a PRU - or Paramedic Response Unit - Stewart is often deployed to some of the ambulance service’s most urgent emergencies. As fire and rescue battle the blaze, Stewart endures heavy rain and prepares to treat casualties.

Meanwhile, Ayr-based crew Sophie and Shelby treat a man who has been drinking alcohol and gotten injured in a fall. He has sustained a concerning head injury but is adamant he doesn’t want to go to hospital. For Sophie and Shelby, who want to take the patient to a place of safety, it’s a frustrating situation that is one of around 20,000 alcohol-related calls that the ambulance service attends every year.

In Glasgow’s Ambulance Control Centre, Fraser takes a difficult 999 call from a woman who is threatening to harm herself following the breakdown of her relationship. Fraser is able to draw on his own mental health experiences to help comfort the caller while further help is arranged.

And in Perth, teammates Keara and Ashleigh help Keith, who is undergoing cancer treatment and showing worrying signs of an infection.
