While there is still stigma around divorce, more people are celebrating their separation by throwing divorce parties and sharing their 'divorce glow-up' online.

Divorce is on the rise across parts of Africa. In South Africa, government figures show divorces increased by nearly 9 per cent between 2023 and 2024, while local media in Zambia reported a 16 per cent rise between 2022 and 2023. Although divorce continues to carry stigma in many communities, attitudes are beginning to shift. In Kenya, some high-profile figures have marked the end of their marriages with celebration parties, while the idea of the 'divorce glow-up' is gaining momentum on social media.

Host Nkechi Ogbonna explores why perceptions of divorce are changing across the continent. Kenyan content creator Millicent Bundi and Zambian gospel artist Mag44, who have both spoken openly about life after divorce, share their personal experiences of navigating heartbreak, stigma, and healing - and how their journeys have reshaped their lives.
