China Moses’s Flowers

This week, Soweto is joined by formidable Paris-based American vocalist, producer and broadcaster China Moses as his guest. China is an internationally celebrated artist who has performed more than 800 shows over six continents, with small and large ensembles. In 2023 she received the French National Order of Merit for her contributions to cultural diplomacy and community building.

China comes from a lineage of deep creativity; she is the daughter of vocal icon Dee Dee Bridgewater, and her father was the late pioneering theatre, film and television director Gilbert Moses. Her latest album “its complicated…” is out now.

From Monday to Thursday, China is choosing some of the artists that inspire her for Flowers. To begin her week, China chooses a pioneering UK based vocalist and songwriter that she admires.

Also in the programme, there’s music from Yazmin Lacey, Floating Points and Lakecia Benjamin.
