Marking 80 years since the Vespa's debut, Qasa Alom takes to the roads of Tuscany. He explores the region with a reputation as a playground for the rich and famous and its blue-collared history.
Eighty years ago, an icon of travel first appeared from a Tuscan assembly line - the Vespa. Qasa Alom takes to Tuscany's roads on a vintage scooter to explore a region whose reputation as a playground for the rich and famous also hides a fascinating blue-collared history. Qasa meets the last few working Tuscan cowboys of Maremma as they gather in their cattle and explain how tourism is now their bread and butter; and he heads to the caves of Carrara to see the dangers and hard work involved in mining some of the most-prized marble in the world.
