Bestowed with a talent and a left foot that could have taken him anywhere in his career, Davie refused overtures to leave out of a deep-rooted attachment to his family and Lanarkshire upbringing. Despite his unrivalled talent, Davie suffered setbacks, but he always rose to the challenge and delivered.
