Episode 6

A scared man approaches Tom looking for help. Dave finds himself in a tense stand-off with a drug-user. Police are also attacked with human blood as they deal with a street brawl.

Officers attending a call to a house where a woman has been punched in the face are confronted by a man with a large knife. There is a tense stand-off before they are able to cuff and arrest him. Stephen challenges a man arrested for a hate motivated crime close to Belfast city centre. And, there are comical scenes as the Peelers try to herd cattle through the busy streets of west Belfast.

Back in the city centre Dave and Owen come across a group of drug users openly injecting cocaine in broad daylight, in a public square. As they arrive, they find one man still injecting. A tense stand-off ensues and police describe how they have to deal with the drug abuse and homeless crisis.

Elsewhere officers are called to reports of a street fight between two women. While trying to establish order amid the chaos, one woman wrestles with police, biting Anna and spitting blood into Tom and Adam’s eyes. She’s taken to custody wearing a spit and bite guard. Stephen looks on as the visibly distressed woman is processed through the police system. He is deeply affected by what he sees and hears – an unflinching view of the reality of frontline policing.
