Soar through musical hills and glens ft. Peggy Seeger

Scottish composer Erland Cooper shares soaring music dedicated to rolling hills, verdant valleys and magical glens. Also, we visit the safe haven of folk legend Peggy Seeger.

Erland Cooper returns to the helm of Ultimate Calm for twelve more journeys into calm. A composer from Orkney, Erland takes much inspiration from the natural world, reflected in his own musical creations as well as the music he is drawn to.

For this episode, we begin in an environment that is very familiar to Erland, with music dedicated to rolling hills, verdant valleys and magical glens. There’ll be a selection of songs that give the feeling of soaring through undulating landscapes, from the likes of Roger Eno, Aisha Vaughan and Caterina Barbieri, and Erland shares his own favourite glen.

Also, we’re transported to the musical safe haven of legendary folk singer, songwriter and activist now in her 9th decade - Peggy Seeger. Peggy shares tracks that represent two kinds of calm, from the classical music of her childhood spent attending orchestral performances with her mother, to the song that reminds her of falling in love with her best friend.
