Sunshine dreaming… with Zakia
Zakia pulls out some old favourites inspired by the recent burst of sunshine and is joined by south London producer Kwes to share the inspiration behind his second album, Kinds.
DJ, broadcaster, writer and dreamer Zakia Sewell provides the soundtrack to your dreams - playing music to ease the mind, soothe the soul, and open portals to new dimension
This week, Zakia pulls out some old favourites inspired by the recent burst of sunshine, including lo-fi seasonal reflections from Marine Girls, an ode to the sun from French musician Alain Bellaiche, and the joyful warmth of Haitian duo Claudette et ti Pierre. Plus, new releases from Japanese producer Yu Ogu, Brazilian jazz duo Neves e Silva, and Melbourne-based ensemble Krakatau.
We also hear from south London producer Kwes to mark the release of his second album, Kinds. Made following a a long stretch working behind the scenes, Kinds sees Kwes search again for the outer reaches of music’s solar system, where ambient sounds meet classical composition and brush up against the rougher textures of shoegaze. He joins Zakia to share a couple of tracks that have been inspiring him lately, and of course to share a dream.
