BBC - How famous fans have celebrated T-Shirt Day

For the 19th year running, 6 Music celebrates the humble band T-Shirt with their annual T-Shirt Day which takes place all day on Thursday 17th September.

The concept is simple: requests from your chest. In other words, you wear your favourite tee, then send us a photo on social media by using the #TShirtDay hashtag and we’ll play a song by that artist.

Every shirt has a story – a gig that changed your life, a festival in the rain, a band you discovered on 6 Music. It’s a chance to pass on those stories. This year we’re asking people to "Spill the TEE" behind their favourite tees! So find that shirt and share the history.

We're celebrating all day from 7am - 7pm, and on drivetime, it’s all about Indie this year! Huw Stephens will be live from 4pm on 6 Music and Indie Forever for a show purely powered by Indie tees… and Kate Nash and Paul Smith from Maxïmo Park will join him for his annual T‑Shirt Battle.
