Subject:Abolition

The Oxford Youth Theatre and Adult Drama Group at Pegasus Theatre are preparing to showcase a series of productions that will commemorate the 200 year anniversary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.

The project is in its early stages but the Members Committee, a group of young people and adults aged 10 and upwards, have gathered for a discussion about it.

The plays will focus on all aspects of slavery, from Africa to the present day, and its implications here in Oxford.

Rehearsals for these plays begin in September and they will be the final productions performed at the Pegasus Theatre before its closes for refurbishment next year.
