Newark Castle
Blacke Dickon
Blacke Dickon: "It was here that in 1216 King John died. One of the traditions within the Robin Hood legend is that the King was poisoned by a cleric... named Friar Tuck."

In one tradition King John is said to have been directly responsible for the death of Maid Marian. On the night that King John died a great storm passed directly over Newark. As it did there was a tremendous bolt of lightening as the King died. It became a tradition that the devil come for King John's soul.
