Timothy Reynard and Ben Derrick won sponsorship to pay for the project. Timothy describes the experience. 'Denied', a suspense thriller, which I wrote and directed, tells the story of a young woman who is blinded after a car crash. ![]() Timothy Reynard There are several established filmmakers working on the film, including sound mixer Stephen Pelluet, who worked on Peter Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King'. Principal photography on 'Denied' took over six months to complete, with me and cinematographer Scott Gilmour taking the cast to locations including Scar House Reservoir, Horticap, Henshaw's Arts & Crafts Centre and even Brittany, France. The film stars the talented newcomers Andrew Dawson and Holly Mann as well as experienced actor/director Nevin Ward, whose theatre production, 'The Dam Play' was sold out in days. If the film receives good reviews, I hope to release it on DVD in the summer. 'Fashion Police', is a drama which shows how a man rules a world where only fashion matters. Ben was given a unique opportunity when the Harrogate Symphony Orchestra agreed to perform Pascal van Stekelenburg's soundtrack to 'Fashion Police' and North Yorkshire County Council's 'CYC' used their equipment to record it. Help playing audio/video ![]() Ben Derrick Although filmed in Pateley Bridge, 'Fashion Police' is set in the city. Ben's compositing team, including Sky Sports' Paul Gill, used their skills to make the film's special effects look realistic. Ben also stars in 'Fashion Police' alongside young actors Jodie Taylor Smith and Daniel Fletcher. 'Fashion Police', alongside 'Denied', will be entered in film festivals around the globe, in a bid to show the films to a wider audience. Ben and I managed to secure nearly £9,000 worth of grants from North Yorkshire County Council, BSkyB and the National Lottery funded 'The Big Boost'. Our adventure began when we met North Yorkshire's Extended School's Co-ordinator, Sarah Lewis. Sarah heard about our projects late in 2006 and found out about several grants for young people which could help us financially. Sarah's work on the project has been invaluable and we wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for her. ![]() Ken Russell Ben's film had many problems at the start. Finding the right actors and actresses proved difficult and it was obvious that script changes were needed. "Originally, I was going to film a movie I had written called 'Phoescion'. After a lot of discussions I decided to drop 'Phoescion'." says Ben. "Thankfully that year I had already started to write another screenplay called 'Fashion Police'. I adapted it slightly and managed to make a shooting script." The 10th January 2008 will see us, the cast and crew arriving at the Odeon Cinema in Harrogate in a limo and entering the cinema on a red carpet. The evening, which is bound to be full of glitz and glamour will premiere both films to a large audience including director, Ken Russell.
I'm so nervous, these are our debut feature films and they are being shown at the Odeon to Ken Russell of all people - it's so exciting! We've deliberately taken a long time to complete both films - we want to make sure that they are the best quality possible. A lot of people have given their time and effort to help make the films successful. last updated: 03/06/2008 at 14:56 SEE ALSOYou are in: North Yorkshire > Entertainment > The Arts > Visual Art > Film-makers' debut
