With just over two weeks until the World Cup begins, the countdown is well and truly on.

England and Scotland have both qualified for next month's tournament - and for Scotland it's the first time they have reached the finals since 1998.

To celebrate, the Bank of Scotland has launched a limited edition £20 note.

It features an image inspired by Scott McTominay's overhead kick during the team's 4-2 win over Denmark in November, which helped secure Scotland their place.

The 2026 edition of the World Cup will feature 48 teams, and will begin on 11 June in 16 cities across the US, Canada and Mexico.

Scotland are in Group C and will face Haiti, Morocco and Brazil in their group stage matches.

It's a huge moment for Scotland fans, who last played at a World Cup 28 years ago.

They secured their place last November, with a 4-2 win over Denmark at Glasgow's Hampden Park.

Napoli midfielder McTominay scored the first goal early in the game, with a stunning overhead kick.

The goal is considered by many to be one of the best Scotland goals ever to have been scored.

As a result, the Bank of Scotland has unveiled a new limited edition £20 banknote, which features an image of the famous goal.

Fans will have the chance to win one of only 100 commemorative notes through a series of events in the coming weeks, which will raise money for charity.

McTominay, who has been named in Scotland 26-man squad, said that he was honoured that his goal had been commemorated - and that he was looking forward to playing at the tournament.

He explained: "Reaching the biggest stage of world football is something every player dreams of, and I know it means everything to our fans.

"Moments like that belong to everyone who follows the team, so seeing my goal featured on a Scottish banknote feels incredibly special."
