The education secretary Bridget Phillipson has said this week “there’s nothing wrong with kids being bored” - but what do you think?

Rewinding a little, after the big announcement that some social media sites will be banned for under-16s in 2027, some kids have been thinking about what they're going to do with all their newly-found spare time.

In one interview on BBC News, a child said she'd spend the nine hours she usually spends on her phone staring at a wall.

The Education Secretary said kids should "find something to do" when they can't go on social media

This led to a discussion between BBC presenter Adam Fleming and the education secretary about boredom.

Bridget Phillipson said: "There is nothing wrong with kids being bored. That is also an important part of growing up.

"If you're bored, go and find something to do."

She did say that this is sometimes harder for children without access to activities in their local communities, or families with less money to spend.
