The 2026 Fifa World Cup is almost here, and football fans in Scotland and England are getting excited.

But, there is one big problem for children in the UK who want to watch their teams play – many of the matches kick off very late at night!

Scotland's first World Cup match is against Haiti and starts at 2am UK time on Sunday 14 June.

Because the game begins in the early hours of the morning, some parts of Scotland will have a special bank holiday on Monday 15 June.

Some schools and local councils have decided to close, giving children a chance to rest after what could be a very late night. However, not every school will be taking the day off.

The late kick-offs don't stop there. Scotland's next two group matches are scheduled for 11pm on the following Friday and on Wednesday 24 June.

Unlike the Haiti match, there is no bank holiday after the Wednesday game, meaning children could be heading to school tired the next morning.

England supporters face a similar challenge. Their three group-stage matches all kick off late, at either 9pm or 10pm UK time.

While those times are not quite as late as Scotland's 2am opener, it could still mean bedtime is pushed back for many young football fans.

So, how will you watch the matches?

Will you be allowed to stay up, have football sleepovers with friends, join online watch parties, or simply catch up with the highlights the next morning?
