Japan's women's team win football World Cup!

Japan have won the women's football World Cup for the first time ever!

The ladies team managed to fight off the tournament favourites from the United States in a nerve-racking penalty shootout in Germany.

Top Japanese player Saki Kumagai scored the winning penalty taking the squads lead to 3-1.

It's the first time that a team from Asia has won the title.
