Gerry Bond takes on the Royal

BBC Newsline has learned the Royal Victoria Hospital has closed a ward in its neurosurgical department because an inspection found that it fell short of required standards of cleanliness.

The inspection came about as a result of one Co. Antrim's grandfather's quest - his grandson contracted a hospital infection while undergoing brain surgery - but it was never reported to the Health Authorities.
