MRSA in care homes

One in four residents in private nursing homes in a particular area here has been found to be carrying the MRSA infection.

The revelation came in a study carried out by Queen's University and Antrim Area Hospital.

The study also found that staff were carrying the bacteria.

The report focused on homes in the former Northern Board area and there have been calls for tough and immediate action from those in both the public and private sectors.
