Apology to abuse victims

The leader of the Catholic Church in Ireland has apologised for decades of child abuse in Catholic-run institutions in the Republic.

Cardinal Sean Brady was responding to a devastating report by the Child Abuse Commission into the running of industrial and reform schools.

The inquiry found that church leaders knew that sexual abuse was "endemic" in boys' institutions.

Cardinal Brady spoke to our reporter, Chris Page.
