Rise in diabetes cases

Ian Foster was diagnosed with diabetes when he was just 32. He is suffering from a condition which is increasing at an alarming rate across Northern Ireland.

Every day about ten new cases are diagnosed here.

While not life threatening, if left undetected this common illness can have huge consequences.

The figures are so worrying that they have triggered urgent calls for the Health Service to sit up and take notice.

Our Health Correspondent, Marie-Louise Connolly, reports.
