Rob Campbell leaves behind "a legacy of love, warmth and kindness" his family said

Tributes have been paid to a father-of-three who died after his motorcycle was involved in a crash with a lorry on a dual carriageway on Merseyside.

Rob Campbell, 40, from St Helens, came off his bike in the crash on the East Lancashire Road by Haydock at about 23:00 BST on Monday.

His family said he was a "devoted dad to three beautiful girls" and "everything he did, every choice he made, was rooted in his love for them".

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and driving while unfit through drugs, Merseyside Police said.

A family statement said Rob "had a kind and gentle heart" and made "others feel seen, valued, and cared for".

It added: "He cherished life in a way that was rare, holding on to moments, memories, and the people he loved with a sentimentality that made him who he was. He felt deeply, loved deeply, and gave deeply.

"He leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness. A big-hearted man whose presence made life better for the people lucky enough to know him.

"His girls will forever carry his love with them and all of us who knew him will carry the memory of his gentle spirit."

Drivers questioned

A 28-year-old man from the Widnes area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and drug driving offences.

A second man, 38, from Carmarthenshire, has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and driving while unfit through drugs.

The crash happened on the westbound carriageway between Penny Lane and Kenyons Lane South.

Police said two heavy goods vehicles were believed to have been involved, one directly in the crash while the second may have been involved in the build-up, police said.

Det Sgt Andy Roper said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family at this incredibly difficult time."
