myPension Online login improvements

Updated: 11 August 2026

From 11 August we’re increasing the security of myPension Online by introducing email-based two-factor authentication.

How will it work?

Your account will gain an extra layer of security as, after entering your username and password as normal, instead of entering your memorable word you’ll need to enter a six-digit code that will be sent to your registered email address.

Two-factor authentication improves the security of your myPension Online account as, even if someone else knows your username and password, they won’t be able to sign in without the code that changes every time you sign in. The increased security means you will no longer need to enter your memorable word.

What do I need to do?

Make sure you still have access to the email address linked to your myPension Online account as you will need the code that is emailed to it whenever you login.

Login in now to check the email address we hold for you in “Your contact details”. If you need to change it, click the Amend Contact Details button.

If in the future you change your email address, make sure you let us know by clicking the Amend Contact Details button, so you don’t lose access to myPension Online.

Can I opt out?

No, it’s important that your myPension Online account is kept secure so it will not be possible for you to opt out of using the code sent to your email and instead continue using your memorable word. Using the code helps protecting your account as it stops hackers who might have got your username, password and memorable word via a data breach or phishing scam from logging in.

Can I get the code sent as a text message to my mobile or use an authentication app or biometrics instead?

No. For now, the code will only be sent by email to your registered email address. We are hoping to add an option for the code to be sent to your mobile by SMS in the coming months.
