Spooky season is upon us we've got you covered for all things Halloween. From scary films to Scooby-Doo adventures, paranormal podcasts to creepy quizzes, there's plenty to enjoy this October ahead of the the big night.
Fancy a frightening film night with the lights turned low? We've got classic chillers and new thrillers that'll have you hiding behind the cushions. Or, if you're of a slightly more nervous disposition, settle in for a night of laughs and light scares with some quirky vampires (or non vampires...) and look forward to the annual Strictly spook-tacular.
And if you fancy a screen break BBC Bitesize has plenty of ideas to help you celebrate creatively, from spider cupcakes to pumpkin-carving hacks.

The Mist

A horror film based on a story by Stephen King. A deadly mist descends upon a small Maine town after a huge storm. A man and his son seek refuge in a supermarket where they have to face not only monsters in the mist but the fear and wrath of the other survivors.
Starve Acre

In the rural England of the 1970s, Richard and Julie's seemingly idyllic family life is thrown into turmoil when their son starts acting out of character.
At Starve Acre, their remote family home, archaeologist Richard buries himself in exploring a folkloric myth that the ancient oak tree on their land is imbued with phenomenal powers. While Julie turns to the local community to find some kind of peace, Richard obsessively digs deeper.

Chris and his girlfriend Rose head to upstate New York to meet her parents for the first time. When they arrive, Rose's parents are genial and welcoming to him, but the more time he spends with them and their quiet, obedient servants, the more Chris feels that something is very, very wrong.
His House

Having fled from their war-torn country, refugees Bol and Rial Majur are finally free from detention and are given their own house. Struggling to adjust to their new life in an English town, they find that an evil force is lurking beneath the surface. Rial believes that they have brought an apeth, a night-witch, with them on their journey from Africa.

Halloween favourites don't necessarily have to give you nightmares. Some of these delightfully spooky and darkly funny TV picks bring the laughs alongside the scares.
The Reluctant Vampire

As vampire heir to the throne, there are great expectations for Val to follow in his father’s traditional footsteps, however he’s never really got to grips with the usual bloodthirsty rites of passage.
When his mum reveals he’s not actually a vampire at all but is in fact human, he finds himself caught between two-worlds trying to hide his secret and protect his family while grappling with his own identity and the pull of human life.
