The Dirty Soul Club and The Longcut

The Dirty Soul Club and The Longcut

Dirty and Long

Manchester’s musicians have always been up for a bit of collaboration so it was suggested to The Dirty Soul Club that they be joined by a guest act for their show at Night and Day, they jumped at the chance.

The idea came from the organiser, Designer Magazine, who wanted the bands at their latest show to do a couple of turns with another Mancunian act on stage. For The Dirty Soul Club, the choice was easy, according to keyboard player Natalie Butcher.

"What would a Manchester bands collaboration be without The Longcut?"

Natalie on how The Dirty Soul Club chose their collaborators

"Soundstripe are good friends of ours, so we instantly asked Paul (Wright, the singer-guitarist of the band) to join in on our track What Is Normal, teaming up with Matt on vocals. We’ve played many times alongside Soundstripe and their energy and drive to perform is remarkable."

Always being ones to push their luck, though, The Dirty Soul Club decided not to leave it there, as Natalie explains.

"We wanted to do something more adventurous with the second collaboration. Being fans of The Longcut ourselves and shocked by their recent drop by Deltasonic, we asked them to take part. What would a Manchester bands collaboration be without The Longcut?

"We have great admiration for both The Longcut and Soundstripe for pursuing the music they love to perform and create, so both collaborations reflect this and adhere to their own styles whilst integrating our own sound."

As for the choice of song? Well, that’s a case of wait and see, though Natalie does say that it is "one of their better known tracks".

Who knows what the results will be like, but one thing’s for certain; it’s bound to be better than Shaun Ryder and Russell Watson’s Barcelona…

The Dirty Soul Club (with The Longcut and Soundstripe) play Night and Day on Tuesday 14 August. Also playing are The Cardinals, Kick Me In The and Spectral Fires. Tickets are £6.
